The Outdoor Industries Association Conference 2016
As a passionate believer in the power of the great outdoors on our health, along with the work I’ve been doing over the years with Kozi Kidz I recently joined the OIA. Today was their annual conference in Harrogate, headline sponsored by The Camping and Caravanning Club, which I attended and thoroughly enjoyed.
Yesterday there were organised sessions and I was part of the walk organised by www.walkersarewelcome.org.uk which involved a walk around a reservoir outside of Harrogate. The sun was shining and there was lots of networking going on. Deuter had kindly provided us with a number of rucksacks and backpacks for us to trial on our walk, and I can confirm it was one of the comfiest I’ve ever used.
Amongst the amazing speakers included International Ambassador for Diabetes and internationally renowned mountaineer, Jerry Gore, who absolutely blew my mind with his presentation on his climbing expeditions. As a type 1 diabetic himself he is on a mission to raise awareness of the worldwide impact of diabetes, in order to help organise fundraising and spread the word, with more information at www.Action4Diabetics.org
