ParcelSafe UK win award

At this years DIY & Garden Show at Earls Court, Parcel Safe was voted as the Best New DIY/Hardware Product 2007. They came to me for rendered images and design advice at the start of the project and is now manufacturing and selling them.

Paraytec, the UK based scientific instrument company which manufactures miniature UV-visible absorbance detectors, has won a prestigious R&D 100 Award for its ActiPix D100 detector.

The R&D 100 Awards, “The Oscars of Invention”, for 2007 will be presented at a gala Awards Banquet in Chicago on October 18th.

Widely recognized in industry, government, and academia as a mark of excellence for the most innovative ideas of the year, the R&D 100 Awards are the only industry-wide competition rewarding the practical applications of science.

The awards recognize the 100 most promising new products, processes, materials, or software developed throughout the world and introduced to the market the previous year. Awards are based on each achievement’s technical significance, uniqueness, and usefulness compared to competing projects and technologies.


Based in York , North Yorkshire , the dynamic young company is a spin out from the University of York ’s Chemistry Department. Their award-winning product, the ActiPix, is the world’s first ultraviolet area imaging detector.

Product design and manufacture has been a team effort, and Paraytec have been working in partnership with local company GSPK Design Ltd, based in Knaresborough, and Glo Design in South Yorkshire.
